Bhopal: Ban on public celebrations of Jamnashtami, Muharram

The government has banned public celebrations of Janmashtami, Muharram and Ganesh Utsav because of corona pandemic.

Taking out processions on Janmashtami and Muharram has been banned. Besides, installation of Ganesha idols will not be allowed in pandals.

At a review meeting of the corona pandemic on Friday, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asked collectors to issue guidelines in this regard. He also asked collectors to hold a meeting of crisis management group before Janmashtami in this connection.

“August is the month of festivals. It should be ensured that, there is no gathering at temples and pandals,” Chouhan said.

He asked officials to ensure that there are no public gatherings. Chouhan also said that the collectors should hold discussions with religious leaders and ensure there are no public gatherings on Independence Day.

Follow Delhi model

It was decided at the meeting that patients without corona symptoms should be kept in home isolation like done in Delhi. The patients who have proper facilities and want to stay at homes should be allowed go into home quarantine. However, their treatment and monitoring should be proper, said chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
