BHOPAL : Central Jail law officer Mrigendra Pratap Singh was sent to police remand on Sunday for three days in connection with jail guards’ recruitment – 2012 fraud.
Gandhi Nagar police had arrested Singh on Saturday night and he was produced in court of JFMC SPS Bundela on Sunday evening.
Singh was arrested on the basis of complaint of candidate Mohanlal Kir of Nasrullaganj.
Gandhi Nagar SHO Jitendra Patel said ” Jail guards’ appointment fraud is one of the biggest frauds in the state as candidates were appointed fraudulently. We arrested law officer Mrigendra Pratap Singh who is prima facie involved in jail guards appointment fraud prima facie. Vyapam had conducted the examination.
We arrested him on Saturday night and today we produced him in the court of SPS Bundela and court sent him on police remand for the three days.” Patel said, ” As per the complaint of said candidates Singh allegedly used to demand Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh from candidates for the appointment. In 2012, Singh charged Rs 5.50 lakh from Mohanlal Kir and other candidates like Shivraj and Mahesh each with assurance of appointment as jail gaurds. But when they were not appointment Mohanlal Kir of Nasrullaganj lodged the complaint with police.
On the basis of complaint, we arrested Singh”. However, defense counsel had protested the remand on the ground that Singh was ill so on ground of poor health, Singh should not be sent to police remand. SHO Patel assured the court for the better treatment as per the court order. Police remand is must to trace out Singh involvement and his links to Vyapam fraud, Patel added.
