Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): An 8-year-old girl was allegedly abducted, raped and killed by her neighbour in Narsinghpur district, police sources said on Monday.
The incident took place in Tendukheda on Saturday. The body of the girl was recovered on Sunday evening.
Police officials said three separate police teams have fanned out in the district to arrest the suspect. The suspect, however, has been changing his location, said police sources.
The accused was aware that victim’s parents were not at home. While the girl's father had gone to his farm, her mother had gone for Covid vaccination, leaving her two daughters at home.
When she returned home, the younger daughter was missing. When she inquired, the elder daughter said that she was out playing. The family members later approached police and lodged a complaint.
“Several persons and children of locality were questioned. It was found that the girl was last seen with a youth,” said a senior police officer.
The officer said that suspect was seen entering a house, which was locked. “The house belongs to suspect. It was locked from outside. When we opened the house, blood was found on bed. On search, girl’s body was found hidden in a room filled with straw. The family members of the suspect also confirmed that the latter was the last person who visited the house,” the officer said.
Narsinghpur Superintendent of Police Vipul Shrivastava said the doctors who conducted the autopsy have confirmed that the girl was raped before she was killed.
