Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): General Manager and five other officials of Birla Hospital, Gwalior have been booked over the death of a judge's wife, who was suffering from COVID-19, sources said on Sunday.

Judge Arun Tomar in his complaint to police alleged that the number of Remdesivir injections, which was claimed in bills, was actually not administered. The hospital administration fraudulently charged excessive amounts against remdesivir injections.

He also alleged that bills against the medicines, which were given to the patients during treatment, have been charged more than the actual bills.

According to information, Tomar, a resident of Sachin Tendulkar Marg in Gwalior, is posted at consumer forum as judge.

He had admitted his wife Sarla Tomar at Birla Hosptial after she tested COVID-19 positive on April 19. She died on 29 April. The hospital management handed Tomar over a bill of Rs 3.36 lakh.

After depositing the bill amount, the hospital management handed over the body and her belongings to Tomar.

A few days after the incident, when Arun Tomar checked the bag, he found the jewellery missing.

“My wife was wearing two rings in her hand. One had a diamond. There were no other ornaments in the bag,” said the judge.

While cross checking the bills of the hospital, he found that the hospital management had cheated him of 74 thousand rupees by making fake bills.

"I talked to the hospital management but to no avail. I then lodged a complaint at the police station," said the judge.

He later lodged a complaint at the police station. The police said that a case had been registered against Birla Hospital's GM Govind Deora, Director SS Desai and Senior Executive Officer Ved Prakash Pandey and three others.
