Satna (Madhya Pradesh): In an alleged love-Jihad case, a youth has been arrested for ‘forcing’ a minor girl to convert her religion and get married with him in Satna district, sources said on Monday.

The youth was reportedly bashed up by local residents when he tried to kidnap the minor at knife point from her home on Sunday. He was later handed over to the Civil Line police station.

The girl in her complaint to police said that she met the accused in 2018 and he had introduced himself as Monu Singh. Soon, the duo fell into love. One day, he took her to the home of one of his friends, where he violated her on the pretext of marriage.

After three years’ relationship, the girl found Monu’s adhar card and was shocked to know that his original name was Rafiq. She later broke up with him.

The girl had stopped meeting and talking to Rafiq though he kept stalking and molesting her.

Rafiq also forced the girl to change her religion and to get married with him, but she refused. The girl, in her complaint, claimed that Rafiq had tried to abduct her on many occasions.

On Sunday, he reached her home and put a knife at her, asking to come and get married with him.

The police said that a case had been registered under relevant sections and the accused had also been arrested.
