BHOPAL: Congress corporators on Friday disrupted the working in Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) demanding immediate meet for budget of the civic body for current year. Congress Bhopal president Kailash Mishra was also present in the protest.
They raised slogans against mayor Alok Sharma and saying that the budget was supposed to be brought in by now, but half the year has passed and there is no information about any meet till date.
Congress corporators including Yogendra Chouhan, Pradeep Saxena and Santosh Kasana staged a sit-in in front of the gate of the BMC. They later locked it- leaving the insiders stranded for an hour.
Congress corproators said the BMC should have witnessed its budget meet for the year. However, neither the meet is being called nor they are ready to listen to any of our problems.
They also alleged that the mayor is deliberately delaying the meet as we are going for next civic polls for the year soon and that he does not want any new work to be done in our wards in the new budget.
They also said the water woes in Bhopal are troubling the residents and that we are bearing the brunt of it due to slow working of the civic body but mayor is unwilling to even listen to us.
