Amid the controversy over singing reality show 'Indian Idol 12's Kishore Kumar tribute episode, lyricist Manoj Muntashir has said that if he was in Amir Kumar's place he would've told the makers that he doesn't want to be a part of the show.
For one of the episodes, the makers paid tribute to late legendary actor-singer Kishore Kumar and his son Amit Kumar appeared as a special guest. After the contestants and judges were lambasted by the audience for 'ruining' Kishore Kumar's iconic songs, Amit said that he was asked to praise all the contestants and had to do it for money.
Weighing in on the same, now, lyricist Manoj Muntashir slammed Amir Kumar and said that Amit shouldn’t have agreed to be a part of it in the first place.
Muntashir, who is filling in as a judge on the singing reality show, told timesofindia.com that Amit Kumar took money for the appearance and then criticised the show. He added that if he was in Amir's place and wasn't 'comfortable with the proceedings', he would've told the makers that he has changed his mind.
Recently, singer Sunidhi Chauhan also made some shocking revelations about the singing reality show.
During an interaction with ETimes, Sunidhi said that she quit Indian Idol as a judge as she could not be doing "what they (the makers) wanted". She said that she was asked to praise contestants on the show irrespective of her opinion.
