Ganesha immersion: ‘Practice of artificial lakes working well’

Mumbai : Many Mumbaikars have start-ed bidding a final goodbye to their favourite God, Ganesha. This year the number of Ganpati immersed on one-and-a-half day has gone up. According to the MCGM data, total 82,574 Ganesha idols were immersed in beaches and artificial lakes on Wednesday, an increase of 5653 idols as compared to the 76,921 idols immersed last year.

An official from the MCGM said, “We have seen a drastic in-crease in the number of idols getting immersed this year and the practice of artificial lakes was initiated two years back and has been working out really well.” Apart from this, the lord has been witnessing many Bollywood stars coming in for darshan, the most famous Lal-baugcha Raja saw Amitabh Bachchan and Governor Vidya-sagar Rao amongst others.
