Mumbai: For the first time, Peter Mukherjea’s counsel on Tuesday informed the Bombay High Court that his client had never been against the relationship Peter’s son Rahul and Indrani’s daughter Sheena Bora. This admission was against the claim made by Central Bureau Investigation in their second supplementary chargesheet.

Abad Ponda, the counsel appearing for Peter told the single-judge bench of Justice Nitin Sambare that his client was never against the relationship of his son and the deceased Bora. He also told the bench that it was Indrani who always opposed this relationship.

Countering the statements of Shyamvar Rai, (the accused-turned-approver), Ponda argued CBI had recorded his (Rai’s) confessional statements in November 2015, wherein he didn’t utter a single word against Peter. He also told the court that CBI is falsely implicating his client in the case.

Ponda argued that the statements made by Rai that Indrani wanted to kill Mikhail and Sheena for revealing the truth that she was their mother and spreading this word around. This proves that Indrani wanted to also kill Mikhail which clears Peter of any motive to kill Sheena. “Since Peter firstly did not oppose Sheena’s relationship with his own son and secondly had no grouse against Mikhail, there was no question of him having any motive to kill Sheena,” said Ponda.
