Veteran Bollywood actress Neena Gupta has made several shocking revelations in her autobiography, 'Sach Kahun Toh.' She has also spilled the beans on the challenges she faced when she was pregnant with daughter Masaba Gupta.
An excerpt from her book reveals that when Neena Gupta got pregnant out of wedlock, one of her friends tried to get her married to a gay banker from Mumbai's Bandra.
Neena's friend told her that the man wanted to get married to avoid societal pressures. She would have been allowed to say that the child was his but he would not be a part of her or her daughter's lives.
The 'Sardar Ka Grandson' actress was in a relationship with West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards, who denied leaving his wife and family for the actress. This left Neena in a difficult situation.
However, Neena Gupta stated in her autobiography that she laughed them off because she didn't feel right about getting married just to avoid controversy.
Neena Gupta has also revealed that filmmaker Satish Kaushik had offered to marry her too when she was pregnant with Masaba. The filmmaker had told her that she could say the child was his and that nobody will suspect a thing.
Satish told her, "Don’t worry, if the child is born with dark skin, you can just say it’s mine and we’ll get married. Nobody will suspect a thing."
Neena Gupta made her acting debut in the '80s after graduating from the National School of Drama. She gave birth to Masaba in 1989 and brought her up as a single mother.
Neena married Delhi-based Chartered Accountant Vivek Mehra in 2008.
After years of being in the industry, her career got a fresh lease of life in 2018 with films like 'Badhaai Ho', 'Veere Di Wedding' and 'Mulk'.
Neena Gupta was last seen playing the lead role in Netflix's 'Sardar Ka Grandson', co-starring Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh.
