Amid the speculation of a possible Cabinet expansion of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met 25 BJP MPs and ministers over the weekend, reported India Today. Shah met BJP MPs from several states, including Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, the report added.
According to an NDTV report, Shah's meeting with BJP MPs was part of an ongoing feedback exercise on the work of the government, COVID-19 situation and other issues. "The focus of the meetings this time is on the situation in the MPs' constituencies, the handling of COVID and their performance during the pandemic, and the grievances of the people. Also any reshuffle in the ministry is usually preceded by appraisal and stock taking," the report quoted sources as saying.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister has also been holding in-person meetings with Union ministers apparently to take stock of the work done by the government in the last two years and to discuss various issues. Both Union ministers and Union ministers of state are meeting the prime minister in different groups, sources told news agency PTI.
On Monday evening, PM Modi held a meeting with Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda.
Political observers and party insiders feel that this could be an exercise before an expected Cabinet expansion and reshuffle, but there has been no official word yet.In Pics: Activists in Kolkata stage mock funeral procession with masks, effigies of PM Modi and Amit Shah against rising fuel prices
