Coronavirus in India: 77% citizens have faith in healthcare infrastructure, finds survey

While coronavirus cases are still rising in the country, with India’s count now crossing the 20-lakh mark, a survey suggests that 77% citizens still have faith in healthcare infrastructure of the country.

A survey, Mood of the Nation Survey, conducted by India Today further showed that while 77% had faith in the healthcare infrastructure, but 18% of the respondents said they don’t trust India’s healthcare system.

The survey was conducted by Delhi-based market research agency between July 15, 2020 and July 27, 2020. The agency surveyed 12,021 people, of which 67% was rural population and 33% was urban population. The survey was conducted in 19 states, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Coronavirus latest updates: India records 61,537 new COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 20,88,612

Meanwhile, registering 61,537 more cases in India, the coronavirus tally reached 20,88,611 on Saturday, while the death toll rose to 42,518 with 933 more fatalities. The number of recoveries surged to 14,27,005 and the recovery rate rose to 68.32 per cent, according to ministry data.

There are 6,19,088 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), comprising 29.64 per cent of the caseload. A total of 61,537 cases were added in a day, taking the tally to 20,88,611, it said. This was the 10th day in a row that the COVID-19 tally increased by more than 50,000.
