INI CET 2021 was originally scheduled for May 8 but was later postponed along with the NEET PG 2021, due to the pandemic. However, on May 27, new dates were announced. The test is now slated to be conducted on June 16, 2021.
The exam will be held online at designated centres and facilitates admission to postgraduate courses in leading government medical institutes across the country including AIIMS, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Puducherry, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) in Bengaluru.
The revised schedule has caused a furore among students and the medical fraternity alike. Twenty-six doctors from various states on Monday knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court seeking a direction for the postponement of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) INI-CET examination.
They said that conducting the examination is in utter disregard to the assurance given by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) while postponing the NEET-PG examination to August 31.
Student organisations NSUI and ABVP have also demanded that the postgraduate entrance examination conducted by AIIMS be postponed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ABVP National General Secretary Nidhi Tripathi said it wasn't fair to make medical graduates appear for exams "all of a sudden". "ABVP appeals to the Ministry of Health, Government of India to extend the date of the INI-CET exam so that the candidates receive enough time to prepare," Tripathi said.Uttar Pradesh: Class 10 and 12 Madrasa Board examinations cancelled in the state
