PM Modi to launch customised crash course for COVID-19 frontline workers on June 18

In a bid to create skilled non-medical healthcare workers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shall be launching ‘Customized Crash Course programme for Covid 19 Frontline workers’ on 18th June. The PM will be launching it at 11 am through video conference.

The launch is planned to commence the programme in 111 training centres spread over 26 states. It will be followed by the Prime Minister’s address and Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will also be present on the occasion.


The programme aims to skill and upskill over one lakh covid warriors across the country. The training will be imparted to covid warriors in six customised job roles namely Home Care Support, Basic Care Support, Advanced Care Support, Emergency Care Support, Sample Collection Support, and Medical Equipment Support. The programme aims to create skilled non-medical healthcare workers to fill the present and future needs of manpower in the health sector.


The programme has been designed as a special programme under the Central Component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0, with total financial outlay of Rs. 276 crore.

Meanwhile, India recorded 62,224 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, according to health ministry data. The country has reported less than 100,000 daily new cases for the ninth day. The death toll rose to 379,573 after 2,542 lives were lost in a day, data showed. The national COVID-19 tally, meanwhile, rose to 29.63 million

While, the Centre has provided more than 27 crores COVID vaccine doses to the states and Union Territories (UTs) so far, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) informed on Wednesday.

"As many as 27,28,31,900 vaccine doses have been provided to states and UTs so far, through Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 25,45,45,692 doses," reads the official statement.
