Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening held a meeting with Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda, reported news agency ANI.

For the past one week, PM Modi has been holding in-person meetings with Union ministers apparently to take stock of the work done by the government in the last two years and to discuss various issues. Both Union ministers and Union ministers of state are meeting the prime minister in different groups, sources told news agency PTI.

Political observers and party insiders feel that this could be an exercise before an expected Cabinet expansion and reshuffle, but there has been no official word yet.

Besides the work done by the ministries, PM Modi also discussed various important and relevant issues with them, sources told PTI, adding that the meetings were called after the second wave of COVID-19.

Sources told news agency IANS that the meeting was called to discuss Cabinet expansion, COVID-19 control measures and the strategy for the Assembly polls scheduled in a few states next year.

Meanwhile, the BJP is all set to start the second phase of a countrywide voluntary service to promote COVID-19 vaccination, promote awareness and help people affected with the disease, reported NDTV.

Under the saffron party's programme "Seva Hi Sangathan", JP Nadda has instructed party workers to help with vaccination campaigns, relief programmes and training healthcare volunteers in villages.

The party workers have been asked to ensure that all people aged 45 years and above get both doses of the vaccine.
