Kolkata: A day after BJP national vice president Mukul Roy and his son Subhranshu rejoined the ruling Trinamool Congress, the Centre on Saturday withdrew 'Y category' security cover from Subhranshu Roy. While, Mukul Roy himself released his 'Y ' security cover. However, both Mukul and Subhranshu will be given state police security now.

According to a close aide of the ace politician, since the BJP led central government didn’t give any reply to Mukul’s letter, the TMC leader was getting both the central and state security.

According to BJP sources, Mukul had called North Bengal MP Nisith Pramanick and nine MLAs - Sikha Chatterjee, Mihir Goswami, Sudip Mukerjee, Narhari Mahata, Biswanath Karak, Partha Chattopadhyay, Biswajit Das and Satyen Roy.

“Sikha, Narhari, Biswanath, Sudip informed the top state BJP leaders about Mukul Roy’s call and mentioned that Mukul wanted them to join the TMC. However, rest of the BJP leaders who had received calls from Mukul didn’t inform the BJP leaders,” claimed the BJP sources.

Speculations again started over the defection of the leaders who didn’t inform BJP fold about Mukul’s call.

Meanwhile, Sunil Singh, relative of BJP MP Arjun Singh said that Mukul’s rejoining the TMC will have an impact in both the BJP and the TMC.

“Though political and personal relationships are not same but Mukul is a big figure and him leaving the party will have huge impact,” said Sunil hinting on his defection as well.

Incidentally, after Mukul Roy had rejoined the TMC, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also hinted towards a possibility that there is a chance that those who are close to Mukul may defect the saffron party.

Senior BJP leader Tathagata Roy on Saturday took to social media and said that Mukul will pass on all the secrets of the BJP to the TMC making the ruling party more powerful.

However, West Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh said that when Mukul Roy had defected to the BJP he bought several TMC leaders along with him and now he is trying to defect them back to the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Notably, on Saturday afternoon Mukul met Abhishek Banerjee for over an hour to discuss ways of the party's future functioning.
