Indore: Unlike the initial days of the month, May showed the ray of hope. The light at the end of the tunnel. Especially in the last 10 days, the number of positive cases has come down hugely and so has the number of active cases.

However, the month didn’t show any mercy in terms of the number of deaths as it rose to highest in any month since the outbreak of the disease.

However, in terms of number, May became the second worst month in terms of increasing number of Covid patients and had seen over 37000 positive cases. Highest number of cases was reported in April i.e. over 42,000.

“Due to the strict lockdown for so many weeks, cases have started decreasing and conditions are becoming normal. Conditions turned worst due to increasing cases and the ‘Super Spreader’ variant of COVID-19 prevalent among the population. Now, as the cases are decreasing, people must follow the norms to avoid such a nightmarish situations again,” Covid nodal officer Dr Amit Malakar said.

Meanwhile, nodal officer of Maa Ahilya COVID Care Centre Dr Anil Dongre said, “April was the worst month but May was comparatively better as condition started improving after half of the month passed. Rate of positivity was about 12 per cent in May and the highest number of patients were discharged in this month.”

“People should follow the norms strictly and must get early treatment to avoid any untoward situation,” Dr Dongre added.
