Bhayandar: Ceiling crash leaves 1 dead in Bakol Street

Bhayandar, June 14: In a tragic another incident, a 39-year -old man died after a part of the ceiling of his apartment crashed on him in Bhayandar. The incident was reported from the first floor flat of Rose Villa building located in Bakol Street in Bhayandar (west) at around 2:30 pm on Monday afternoon.

The building's name fared in the list of dangerous structures unfit for human habitation declared by the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC). Fire brigade personnel reached the spot after getting information. While all other flats had been vacated, two continued to be occupied, an official said. "We have asked the concerned department to immediately vacate and demolish the building." said Chief Fire Officer-Prakash Borade. This is the third incident in the past one month putting the spotlight back on the issue of dilapidated structures and policy hurdles towards their redevelopment.
