Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today held meeting with leading entrepreneurs in the view of COVID-19 situation in the state. During the meeting, CM Uddhav Thackeray said, "I want to set an example in India that Maharashtra has run industry sector with complete care even during COVID-19 period."
He said, "We don't want both - lockdown and knockdown, so we should follow all covid related protocols." He said by unlocking and easing the lockdown we are taking a calculated risk so we need to be careful. "At the local level, the district administration will decide whether to relax or tighten restrictions," he said.
"In the fear of seond wave of COVID-19, Covid Care Centers have been expanded but we feared that some of the facilities would be inadequate," the CM said adding there was a shortage of oxygen but all the big companies cooperated with us for the availability of oxygen.
He directed to maintain a health record of construction workers as well as workers from outside the state working in various industries in the state. "They should not spread the covid virus on their way to and from their state and also keep track of their family members," he said.
Further he said that workers should be kept in isolation after coming from abroad, they should be checked. "As monsoon has already begun, epidemics can spread so see to it that your workers and employees follow the rules properly," he added.
What did the entrepreneurs say?
Entrepreneurs said that they will help and contribute for the prevention of infection, especially in rural areas. "Vaccination of unorganized class related to industry sector and other care needs to be taken and the IT sector should focus on work from home for the next few months," they added. "
Industry and factory workers should be categorized in terms of vaccination and testing. They said that the third wave should not stop financial transactions and the industry should expedite vaccination not only of its employees but also to their families. Vaccination of construction workers as well as workers needs to be done in large numbers, they added.
Concluding the CM said, "Mumbai is too big so even the smallest containment zones should be emphasized in terms of restrictions". "In the first level, you need to be more careful about allowing people to attend in large numbers for various reasons, ceremonies, events." he added.
