Heavy rains lash Mumbai; train, bus services hit due to water-logging

Heavy rains, coupled with thunderstorm and strong winds, lashed Mumbai and its suburbs on Saturday, leading to disruption of train and bus services as tracks and roads got waterlogged at several locations, officials said.

A Central Railway spokesperson said the suburban train services between Dadar and Kurla stations on the main line were suspended after the water rose above the track level, while a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) official said that several of its buses had to be diverted due to water-logging at some points.

Speaking to ANI, Malik said, "Prashant Kishor met NCP chief Sharad Pawar yesterday at his residence. The meeting lasted for nearly three hours. There was no discussion on appointing him as a strategist of NCP. He is a strategist. He analyzes things in a different way. He shared his experience with Pawar Sahab. He must have shared the information of current political dynamics in the country. Pawar Sahab wants to unite Opposition parties. Efforts will be made towards forming a strong political front against BJP in the coming days." He further said that the people of Uttar Pradesh have made up their minds to change the government in the upcoming elections.

Kalyan Dombivali civic body asks schools to be prepared for third COVID-19 wave

Anticipating a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) located in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has decided to launch a programme wherein isolation units and COVID care Centres (CCCs) will be set up in schools, a release said on Saturday.

Under the "My Student, My Responsibility" initiative, the students of civic as well as private schools aged 8 to 12 years would be checked for coronavirus. "If any symptoms are found, such students will be admitted to CCCs for treatment with the consent of their parents," it said.
