University of Mumbai’s Institute of Distance and Open Learning declares exam timetable

Finally, after a long wait, the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) of University of Mumbai (MU) has declared the timetable for exams that were postponed due to technical issues. On the other hand, the MU on Monday stated that results of final-year examinations will be declared in the next few days. Over 1.58 lakh students from regular category and 67,500 from backlog have successfully appeared for more than 400 online exams starting from September 25, 2020.

The MU IDOL stated: “The third-year Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Commerce (B.Com) programme exams will be conducted online starting from October 26. The second-year Master of Arts (MA) exams will begin from November 2 and second year Master of Commerce (M.Com) exams will begin from November 6, 2020.”

These final year exams of MU IDOL which began online from October 3 were postponed as students faced technical difficulties and could not appear for the exam. Vinod Malale, deputy registrar (public relations) of MU IDOL said, “Practice exams will be held soon as backlog exams are being conducted. Out of the total 21 exams of IDOL, 17 exams have begun from October 19.”

Further, MU IDOL stated, "Final Year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (B.Sc IT) semester 6, Third Year B.Sc (Computer Science), Master of Science (M.Sc) part 2 Mathematics, IT and Computer Science and MA Education part 2 and the first and second year BA and B.Com, B.Sc IT sem 4 and 5 and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) sem 1 to 5 exams of backlog are starting from October 19 and onwards. Practice exams of all these courses have been completed.”

On the other hand, most degree colleges that have completed final year online exams will now submit data of marks to MU. Vinod Patil, director and controller of board of examination of MU said, "The marks are being uploaded on the portal by colleges. The results of all these examinations will be announced in the next few days."

Suhas Pednekar, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of MU said, "Teachers, principals, teaching staff and dignitaries of the expert committee have worked tirelessly in a very short time to successfully plan the online exams of the students. The results of all these examinations will be announced soon.”
