'Shiv Rajyabhishek Din' on June 6, 1674, marks the coronation day of the great Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj when the king was crowned as the Chhatrapati of the Maratha Kingdom.
This historic day is being celebrated in Maharashtra today. As per news by All India Radio, Maharashtra Rural Development Department had asked the District Councils, Block Councils and Village Councils to celebrate this day as 'Shiv Swarajya Din'.
The 348th Coronation Ceremony was celebrated at Raigad Fort on Sunday. BJP MP Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati, who belongs to the direct lineage of the great king, performed abhishek on Shivaji Maharaj's statue and paid tributes to the warrior king.
Health Minister of Maharashtra, Rajesh Tope hoisted the Saffron flag and erected the Gudi at the Jalna Zilla Parishad.
Events were also arranged at other places across Maharashtra following Covid-19 protocols.
