Sharad Purnima celebrated with gusto

Ujjain: With glowing of full moon in the dark sky, people welcomed the sacred Hindu month of Kartik with worships of deities on the occasion of Sharad Purnima here on Monday night. Delicious dessert of ‘ khir’ and milk were distributed among devotees to stir the essence of sweetness in the festive season.

Devotees visited temples and worshipped their deities. As per belief, nectar rains from the sky on the day of Sharad Purnima.

People prepared delicious khir and kept it in the open in order to fill the elixir from the sky shined by full moon of Sharad.

A procession was taken out to mark this occasion. It was accompanied by band, royal elephant, horses and drums.

Procession commenced from Piplinaka and concluded at the tomb of ogiraj Matsyendranath. Devotees offered chaadar ( sheet) at the tomb of Matsyendranath.

Milk prasadi was distributed as well.

Likewise, devotees celebrated Sharad Purnima at Shree Lakshmi Vyankatesh temple at Ramanujkot under the leadership of Swami Ranganathacharya. Pt Atmaram Sharma informed that Sahstradhara abhishek pujan was performed at 9 to 10 am and an aarti was practiced later. Idol of Shree Lakshmi Vyanktesh was presided in a cradle from 6 to 12 pm. 51 batuks recited the holy couplets of Shreemad Bhagwat Geeta. Maha- aarti was performed at 12 pm and khir- prasad was distributed to people.

Shreemad Bhagwat Geeta recital programme was organised at Danigate under the aegis of Shree Akhil Bharatiya Chaubisa Brahmin Community. Community president Pt Govind Vijayvant informed that katha was recited by Radheshyam Radhe from 12 to 6 pm. On this occasion, huge mass of devotees were present. A banquet gave the finest ending to the event.

Maha aarti, sundarkand and maha prasadi programmes were organised under the aegis of uva Bhagwa Jagran Manch at Shree Rudra Bhairava temple located behind Mahakaleshwar Temple. Convener Naresh Singh Chauhan informed that maha aarti of Lord Rudra Bhairava was performed at 7: 30 pm and afterwards Sundarkand was recited. Rogi Kalyan Samiti president Mahendra Singh Bais was the chief guest of programme.

Corporators Vishnu Aronya and Kundan Maali were present as special guests. Komal Guru, Vijay Chaudhary and Rajesh Chaudhary were also present as guests.

Bhajan Sandhya was organised to make people devotional under the aegis of Aadi Gaud Brahmin community at Ramgaht. Ceremony started at 7 pm and sweet milk was distributed ( prasad) at 10 pm. Maha- aarti was performed at 7 pm at Goddess Annapurna temple, Siddhavat under the aegis of Maa Annapurna Bhakt Mandal too.

Sharadotsav was celebrated under the aegis of ogi Peer Shree Brahspatinath Guru ogi Shree Parasnath Ji followers at Bhatrarhari Gufa. Dhwaj pujan and Chaadar pujan was performed.

Mahant Shree Brahsaptinath, Sandhyanath and Veernath were present on this occasion. A procession was taken out with chariot, drums and trumpets by devotees. Ramesh Sharma and Dr Satish Sharma were guests of programme. Devotees took blessings from saints.

Kartik month’s holy bath begins

Women on Monday wake up in dawn and had first holy bath of sacred month of Kartik. The holy bath will continue for one month and women and unmarried girls will have bath during dawn time. According to Pt Chanda Guru, there is a religious relevance of holy bath.

Women after having bath perform pujan of Lord Radha- Damodar for peace and prosperity of their family.
