Jalota, who was here to perform during the Ravidas Jayanti Samaroh, told a press conference at Hotel Shipra Residency that bhajans have been gaining popularity continuously and round- the- clock relays of bhajans and other religious programmes on as many as eight TV channels is a glimpse of its popularity.

‘But, purity of bhajans and set standards should be maintained at every cost; adopting jazz music and saxophone or wearing jeans and t- shirts cannot make music popular,’he remarked.

58- year- old Jalota, who has given five performances here earlier, said that he is presently engaged in making the fourth generation aware about our great Indian spiritual recital and music. ‘I have recently recorded bhajans based on Ramcharitmanas, Mahabharat, Geeta, Vedas etc and their audio cassettes are available in the market,’he added. According to him, he is also essaying the main role in the film alt145 Satya Sai Babaalt39. Likewise, three films of his production company are also on the floor.
